Air conditioning installation in Cambridge
The most planning-sensitive town we cover, and also the one with the worst overheating problem in its newest homes.
Cambridge demands more care on planning than anywhere else on our list. Large parts of the city sit within conservation areas, and listed buildings are commonplace rather than exceptional. An outdoor unit on a front elevation is usually out of the question, and in some cases consent is required before anything goes up at all. We would rather tell you that at survey than after installation, so we check it as a matter of course.
Two Cambridges, two problems
Then there is the other Cambridge. The newer developments — Eddington, Trumpington Meadows and the rest — are airtight, heavily glazed and built to retain heat extremely well. That is excellent in February and close to unbearable in July. These homes frequently cannot be cooled by opening a window, because the design assumes mechanical ventilation rather than draughts. They are some of the strongest candidates for air conditioning we see anywhere.
If you are in a flat, assume you will need written consent from the freeholder or management company before anything is fixed externally. We will quote so you have the detail to apply with.
Villages and areas nearby
We also cover Trumpington, Cherry Hinton, Chesterton, Histon, Great Shelford, Sawston, Girton and Milton, along with the surrounding Cambridgeshire villages. If you are not sure whether you are in range, call and ask — the answer is usually yes.
What it costs
Our pricing is published rather than quoted on the doorstep, so you can see roughly where you stand before anyone visits. See one, two and three room prices.
